Find me on

Thursday, 28 August 2014

beauty, nails, nails of the week, notw, gel polish, gel nails, mummy time, whenflowersfall, autumn, winter,

Would you guys believe me if I said that I haven't had gel nails in nearly ten years?
I admit, it's been way too long, but as a lover of acrylics, I've never really opted for gels.
As a new mum, I just don't have time to paint my nails how I'd like them. So last weekend when Liam and I visited a couple of our friends, also new parents, us ladies took the opportunity to have a bit of us time. We left the babies with the boys and enjoyed some baby free pampering.

I opted for a dark grey with a glitter accent nail. I had originally wanted black, but the technician persuaded me otherwise. Although, in hindsight, I wish I'd have gone with my original choice. I'm a huge fan of dark nails in Autumn/Winter and these are fab.

I had honestly forgotten how great gel polish was and now I've had the reminder, I can see myself wanting to sneak out for a baby free nail sesh pretty often!
What colour shall I go for next?

If you don't follow me on youtube, then you probably won't know that I posted a new beauty video yesterday.

I seem to be reaching for lipstick a lot at the moment, so I thought I would go ahead and share my five favourites with you.

You can watch the video below!
Enjoy!

topfivewintercoats

With the past 48 hours of constant rain, I felt inspired to find my top five Winter coats.
I've always been pretty awful with coats. I just getting soaked. Especially now I'm driving, I just find I don't wear one.
This year though, I feel I may need to add one to my wardrobe. If this weather is anything to go by, I'm going to need one.

If you were like me and watched the Burberry show during LFW, then you'll probably be lusting after a trench coat right about now.
This one from Topshop is a good alternative with a extremely smaller price tag. I'm also loving the addition of the leather collar.
2. Vintage Camo Jacket - £29.99
This is one of my favourite camo jackets around at the minute.
They seem to be a huge trend for A/W and can be found in an array of different styles. From the simple ones like this one, to the more structured ones covered with studs.
Luckily, I won a give away over at Unwritten Hollywood, so soon I will be receiving an amazing customised one made by this lovely lady.
Duffle coats seem to be a recurring trend for Winter. I love the fact this has the addition of a fur hood and quilting detail.
This is the ultimate keep warm coat.
4. Brown Hooded Coatigan - £65.00
To me, this coat screams granny chic.
It's not something I would normally pick, but I found my eyes kept creeping over to it. I think it may be for the fact that it looks incredibly warm. Definitely a coat I can now see myself wrapped up in on bonfire night, with a cup of hot chocolate in hand.
The only downside to this coat, is it may not be ideal for rain. It'd probably feel like you were wearing one giant soggy sponge.
Saving the best till last. I am in love with this coat.
I recently featured this in my River Island Wishlist and it's been all I can think about since.
I think it's definitely an acquired taste, purely because it has so much going on. But in my eyes, leather, faux fur and a bit of tartan, how can you go wrong?
This coat may just be on my Christmas wishlist this year.

What's your top coat pick for Winter? Leave links in the comments below.

So how do you guys like the new wishlist layout? I've literally spent the last three hours getting all creative and I actually really enjoyed it.
I feel it looks a lot nicer than the simple white backgrounds I had previously been using.

Upon looking into my wardrobe this morning, rain pouring outside, my house feeling like an igloo. I realised that I don't actually own any clothes suitable for Winter. It turns out that throughout the "Summer", I chopped up too many pairs of jeans, leaving myself with only one old battered pair, 3 jumpers, wearing very thin due to their age and a couple of pairs of leggings suitable for an angsty teen.

Over the Winter, with my non existent funds, I really want to transform my wardrobe into something more grown up and weather proof.

I'm absolutely loving skater and tunic style dresses at the moment. Perfect to team with tights, knits and chunky healed boots. I always tend to lean to the darker end of the colour scale in Winter also, I find it's more me and makes it easier to create a ton of looks with only a few pieces.
I'm definitely in need of some more bottoms too. I chose some thick leggings, because I hate to say it, but I really do like my comfort, and some high waisted pants to add a touch of sophistication.

I think a good range to textures is key in a Winter wardrobe. It's a very easy way to keep an outfit interesting.

What would you pick if you could get a whole new Winter wardrobe?

It's a big'un!

Somehow I managed to end on the River Island website this morning and I ended up falling in love with so many pieces.

After London Fashion Week, I am yet again craving to revamp my wardrobe. I kind of feel like I need to start dressing my age, and maybe a little less like a fashion confused teenager.
The clothes I have in my wardrobe are pretty much things I would have worn five or six years ago, and I think I need to finally move away from that.

My ultimate goal is to have a wardrobe a little more sophisticated, but still edgy. I love the addition of different textures and materials.

I had to add the rose gold watch, because I am still way behind on that one, and I still haven't managed to get my grubby mitts on one.

What do you guys think of the pieces from River Island at the minute. I for one love them.

Hi my lovelies!

Now you guys know that I am a little DIY mad. So, roughly a month ago I started working on a new project and I can finally share it with you!
Below I have written all of the steps I took to create my masterpiece.

Hope you like it!

Bluetooth Folder

- I started off with my £6 denim jacket. I found this one in a charity shop.
-I then used several elastic bands and 'tied' the material into bunches
- After placing the jacket in the bath, I added thick bleach straight from the bottle and left it for an hour.
- Onvce I was happy with the result, I filled the bath with enough water to cover the jacket. By doing this you create a bleach bath. I did this to fade the colour of any of the denim that had not been touched by the neat bleach.
IF YOU LIKE, YOU CAN LEAVE YOU JACKET LIKE THIS. (OPTION ONE)

Bluetooth Folder3

- A few days later I decided to add some colour.
- I hung the jacket on a hanger, placed it on the washing line in my garden and used a purple a pink dye to fill in some of the white patches.
- I left my jacket to dry and then I put it in the washing machine to wash out the excess dye. I always find, by leaving the dye to dry into the fabric, you get more of a strong colour.
THIS IS OPTION TWO AND YOU CAN LEAVE IT HERE. YOU CAN ALSO YOU AN ARRAY OF DIFFERENT COLOURS!

Bluetooth Folder5

- My last little modification included studs, of course. I purchased mine from ebay. £2 for 200 and they came within 3 weeks from China. (you must plan ahead if you have a time limit.)
There are a huge variety of studs, spikes and other adornments you could use to fancy up any piece of clothing.
THIS IS OPTION THREE

Bluetooth Folder6 Bluetooth Folder1

I am so, so happy with how my jacket turned out. I'm just waiting for some ideal weather to wear it.
I'm currently on the hunt for another jacket because I have the DIY bug now.

Let me know if you guys try any of this! I'd love to see what you come up with.

Yes, I know this is another wishlist, but I think I am totally over waiting for Summer to appear!
I'm finally feeling the need to Autumn colours, chunky knits and big boots!

The boots I have featured above, I think are the only boots I will be happy to have! How can you go wrong with black patent boots with studs on them?!
I've also included another pair of disco pants, because after my breakthrough with my other pair, I'm now wanting to live in them.
I can just imagine the outfits now, huge chunky cardigans, smooth, figure hugging disco pants and big boots. Gah, I want it all naaaoooowww!

I just had to include a couple of hats, because if you know me, then you know that I usually end up with about 10 new hats every Winter. It's a tradition!

And the camo jacket, let me tell you how much I want a camo jacket. Not necessarily the one above, any one will do. I've actually entered to win a customised on recently and I have my fingers, toes, eyes, everything crossed that I win. I doubt I will. But I'd really like to.

Have you guys had enough of waiting around for the sun?
What'll be on your winter wishlist this year?

Hi Lovelies!
Sorry I've been so absent, I took a three day break from blogging as my mum, sister and niece came to visit all the way from West Wales. They spent 6 hours on Monday driving to get here and left this morning to make the horrid drive back. I've had the most fun 3 days ever and I am missing my Lilypie so much already! Whilst they were here we got lost in Bradford, ate far too much takeaway foods and spent an hour and a half in Wacky Warehouse playing in the ball pit.
Unfortunately there has been a teeny down side to these past few days too, my sister has been suffering with a really bad cold and muggins here caught it off of her. I am now tucked up on my sofa, with a blanket and a hot cup of blackcurrant squash. I'm hoping it doesn't get any worse than it is now, because not only do I feel like complete and utter pants, but I really want to have the energy to write some posts and record some new videos too!! I've missed it so much, I hadn't actually realised how big of a part blogging played in my life now.
Anywhooooo, I am going to make this a short one so I don't ramble on too much, I have taken lots of footage of Lily whilst she was here, but I'm not too sure my sister would be cool with me posting it (I have to admit I don't 100% trust the internets myself), so I'll stick a couple of pics on here instead.

Please excuse the incredibly awful hat hair and make-up free face, my cold had kicked in that day.

But here's my haul for you guys! It's all explained in the video why Primark sucked a lil bit on Wednesday.

I have now returned the shirt.

Knitted Headband - Primark
Long Sleeved Dress - French Connection
Tights - F&F

We have family visiting today, so I thought I'd make an effort. Liam says I look like a lady from a black and white movie because I'm wearing this headband, but I kinda of like that. If we go out at all I will be wearing my wedge lace up boots, because more than likely, I will have to drive. The fam are coming up in a van with our new leather sofa and chair and if any of you watched my house tour video, you would have heard me say that we were in much need of a new sofa, well that same night I got a phone call about one! Talk about fate!

Have a good Saturday!!

Hi Lovelies!
I've been looking for some new leggings to purchase for this winter but I really can't make my mind up! I've picked out my top 8 faves and I have 4 from each of my favourite clothing websites, so I thought I'd run a little poll.

Which pair do you like best, and which company do you prefer to buy from? Just leave a comment in the box below and let us all know what you think!
(Click Photo to Enlarge)
1. Lola Velvet Full Length Leggings £10.00
2. Annie PU Lace Panelled Leggings £10.00
3. Hannah Knitted Aztec Leggings £15.00
4. Lauren Criss Cross Design Knitted Leggings £12.00
5. Kiara Heavyweight Leggings With Suede Style Patches £18.99
6. Sabine Mole Skin Leggings With Side Fringing £13.99
7. Prudence High Waisted Leggings £9.99
8. Tammya Velvet Leggings £9.99

I think I'm swaying towards the Boohoo Aztec leggings because I'm crazy for anything with aztec print right now, and the missguided velvet ones, I can wear them with almost anything, a big oversized knitted jumper  or a tan coloured winter trench coat.

Do forget to tell me what you think!

One of my all time favourite things about winter, is the fact you can wrap up warm in a bit wooly sweater! I've already got a couple of new ones my self this year and I've got my eye on a few more. A sweater to me is the ideal in between for when it's too chilly for wear only a t-shirt, and to warm for a big winter coat.

Yes, you heard right! A top trend this winter is fetish, but not the scary whips and chains kind of fetish, oh no, this trend is definitely all about pumping up the sexy, but in more of a classic way. Expect to see leather pencil skirts, thigh high boots and lots of black. Focus on the texture of your outfit, complement cold, smooth leather with a soft touch me jumper, or even clash the demure look of black lace with a piece of spiky jewellery.

This trend isn't for the faint hearted, but is certainly an easy look to put together. Just think black and texture and you're sorted!

Hey lovelies,
I attempted to make a quick tutorial today. The weather outside is horrid and I had to have my lights on in the house, but hopefully it's not too bad. I laugh so hard when I watch this back, I just feel really goofy and make some crazy weird faces.
Anyway, hope you guys kind of enjoy it. I promise, the more I do, the better they will get!

With winter rearing it's ugly head more every day, most people jump at the chance to fill their wardrobes with chunky knits, wooly scarves and winter boots, but this season we have seen a big come back for velvet. With it's luxe look and soft to the touch qualities, it's make any item a perfect winter staple.
This winter, Topshop has a massive collection of velvet items for sale, from simple ballet pumps, to fetish style corset tops. Personally, I am in love with the red dress you can see in the center (above). Top colour picks this season are deep reds, royal blues and jewel tones. There's something for everybody.

What do you guys think of velvet this winter?

Monday, 7 November 2011

Hey lovelies,
It's freezing and miserable today, so what better of an opportunity than today to wrap up warm and feel cosy.

I look like an advert for Primark today, my leggings, tank top and socks are all from there. My jumper is from Peacocks and my grey snood was given to me buy my mother in law.

What are you guys wearing today?
