Find me on

Sunday, 24 February 2013

Hey, beauties!

I hope you're all having a great weekend. I've done a lot of blog prep for the next few weeks, so you can expect some pretty regular posting coming up.

Today though, I've pretty much spent the majority of my day cleaning the house. I'm literally just sitting down for a break now.
I figured I would share with you the videos I have posted recently, just in case you have missed any of them.

Enjoy!

Hi Lovelies!
You should know me well enough by now to know that I am obsessed with Yankee Candles, so I'm pretty sure these pleasantly scented hauls will become a regular thing.
I had to try the two Christmas scents that ever blogger/vlogger on the earth had mentioned this year, and I completely understand whey they were such a big hit. They smell amazing, although I have to say I do prefer the Christmas cookie.
I also purchased 8 more of the wax tarts. I had bought 4 previously and didn't expect much from them. But using them in my burner proved me wrong. The smell literally fills the room!! I've decided now that I need a large pink sands and black cherry jar in my life. They're incredible!
I decided that I should buy another burner to use as well, seeing as I had bought so many tarts. This one only cost me £5 and comes in several colours. The only downside to this one is the shape. The flat base makes it very difficult to removed the wax once it has been melted and solidified. My other one has a rounded bottom so the was just pops right out when I want to change scents.
These glasses were the remains of my old Ikea candles. Once they had burned down, I placed them in a saucepan with boiling water, just full enough to reach the level of the wax inside. (Try not to get the water in the glass.) Once the wax had melted completely, I then poured it out into an old chinese takeaway pot, washed of course, and threw it away. To make sure there was no wax left of the glasses I then washed them in very hot water and left to dry.
They are perfect for the sample size candles that I bought!
This is how I store my wax tarts. I never melt a whole one so they're going to last me a good while. I make sure the bags are labelled and then I keep them in a box with my tealights and a spare lighter.

Are there any Yankee scents I should try?

Hopefully this time I won't get hacked again!! But as a precaution, we are looking into getting me a new laptop. Virus scanners just don't seem to be finding what's letting these people get onto my laptop. :/
Anywhooooo, now I can actually type a proper post, I can show you a few bits that I got for Christmas!
Just a quick disclaimer though, I'm not doing this to brag at all, I just know a lot of people enjoy seeing these kinds of posts.
 Blush Professional 88 palettes
 Angry Birds speaker
 Mulberry-esque handbag
 River Island Hats
Rimmel Glameyes Mascara & W7 Africa Bronzer
 River Island boot slippers
 Large Yankee Candle
Welsh Cloggau Guardian Angel Locket
I also got to spend a couple of days with Liams family back home and enjoyed a couple of drinks with friends on Boxing day.
I should hopefully back in full blogging action from now on and I've got a good few things to review so keep your eyes peeled for those.

I hope you all had an absolutely fabulous Christmas!

But here's my haul for you guys! It's all explained in the video why Primark sucked a lil bit on Wednesday.

I have now returned the shirt.

After spending all day trying to get this to upload to Youtube, it's finally up!! For a more detailed haul with swatches etc, keep your eyes pealed tomorrow!

I was also meant to include the ELF eyelid primer, but in the space of two hours I got it, used it once and lost it. Where it's gone is a total mystery! I think one of the kitty cats has taken a liking to it!

Hope you're all ok!

Hi Lovelies!
So if any of you follow me on tumblr, you would have seen that I did this haul about a month ago, but I totally forgot to share it on here! The only bonus to doing this late is that I can now do proper reviews of the products I bought too.
I got these products when ELF had 40% off any orders over £20, which made me even more impressed with the quality. After the discount had been taken off and postage added, I only paid £16.45 for this little lot.  I had never tried ELF before but after all the reviews I had read and watched on Youtube I figured why not!
The prices listed will be the price I paid after the 40% had been taken off.
Clarifying Pressed Powder - Light Beige 90p
I quite like this powder, I find it gives good coverage on its own so is perfect for when you don't want to wear any heavy foundation. The powder is smooth and goes on really nicely, I find it is easily to control coverage more with a brush, rather than the cheapy pad that's supplied with it. Colour wise, I find it maybe a little too dark for my skin tone, but is perfect when I have tanned the day before.
Natural Radiance Blush - Coy 90p
This blush gives a sheer but buildable colour. I find the packaging a little disappointing, as the slide mechanism comes apart really easily and I have dropped it quite a few times. The blush itself blends easily and is the perfect colour for someone who wants just a slight pink cheek.
Plumping Lip Glaze - Ruby Kiss 90p
I love this, I don't know what else I can say about it. You can feel the plumping coat working as it makes you lips tingle and feel slightly cold. The red isn't very pigmented, but is a nice deep red colour for a classic look that isn't too bold.
Lengthening and Volumising Mascara - Black £2.10
I purchased this because I had just run out of my Maybeline One by One Volume Express, and I have to say I am quite impressed. The brush is quite small and I find it doesn't grip my lashes very well, but if you are patient and work at it, the liquidy formula gives quite good coverage. I think the mascara lengthens more than volumises but I have quite full eyelashes, so that doesn't bother me too much.
Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil - Blissful Blush 90p
I bought this because I like to have a light colour on the inside corners of my eyes. The colour is really pretty and the pencil itself it really soft, the one thing I hate is a super hard eyeliner, but this goes on so softly, it doesn't feel like you're scratching at your eye.
Waterproof Eyeliner Pen - Black 90p
This is the one product I am not impressed with at all. Initially I loved it, it went on easily, you can control the thickness of the line and the colour was really strong. BUT, it's dried out so quickly! I have used it maybe ten times, if that, and it's now like using a felt tip pen that's had its top left off for a day. The nib of the pen has squished and it's now not so easy to control. I really wouldn't recommend this eyeliner.
Studio Matte Lip Colour - Natural £2.10
I love this lip colour. The shade is the perfect natural pink and the matte look is really in trend at the minute. If you prefer a glossy look, you could put a clear lip gloss over the top. This is probably something I use everyday at the moment.
 Concealer - Beige £2.10
I like the colour and coverage of this concealer, but I find it rather hard to blend. The pen form makes it easy to place where you really want it, but the formula is quite solid.
Nail Polish - Dark Navy 90p
I love this colour. I am a black nails in the winter kind of girl, so this makes a nice change. It has a slight shimmer also.
Nail Polish - Mint Cream 90p
This is the perfect minty green colour. A couple of coats make the best opaque coverage.
Matte Finisher Clear Nail Polish - 90p
If you don't want to buy matte nail colours, this is ideal. It dries quickly and gives the perfect matte top coat.  The only downside I have found to this, is that after a little wear and tear the matte-ness goes away and the shine from the polish underneath comes through.

So I hope you find this helpful when buying your next ELF order. If you can recommend any other products of theirs, please just comment below!
