Happy Wednesday, flowers!

This week has been quite the success, although it was pretty rocky at the beginning.
At the start of my first week on this journey, I was finding it incredibly hard not to binge eat. I felt incredibly low mood wise through both Wednesday and Thursday, and it was through these days that I learnt that I am a huge emotional eater. The thing is, if I'm down, I eat and if I'm happy, I eat.
I knew this was something I needed to get out of the habit of doing, and I think it's also something that is going to be an ongoing battle with myself. So far, I think I've done alright.

This week we have made a conscious effort to cook our evening meals, and eat much better than we normally would. We've tried a couple of new things and found we really enjoy them! I can now say that I am well and truly on the quinoa bandwagon.

Exercise did not go quite to plan though. With Liam being ill, (which he still is, nearly two weeks down the line,) and Scout teething like crazy, any spare time I've had I've been spending cleaning, doing washing or sleeping. Even last night I was meant to do an hour of cycling, but spent the time catching up on blog/youtube things that I was behind on. So this week that is something I'm really going to work at. I want to be able to say that I've worked out at least once in next weeks post.

That being said, this morning I weighed in at 214.6lbs!! Meaning with changing my diet only, I have lost 3.4lbs. *I'm currently dancing in my chair as I write this.*

It's weird how different I feel about this journey now. Usually, a bit of weight loss and I'd find it ok to go and eat a greasy take out for the next week; instead, this time it's giving me the motivation to continue and I can only hope that I will have the same result next week.

Below you can find my food diary for the week. I've not been fabulous at photographing each of my meals and I have missed some. I think this is something I'm going to have to continue to get better at before tucking in.
If you do want to add me on Myfitnesspal, you can do so here.

Well, this post is only a little bit late. Trying to find time to write it has certainly been difficult. This may be a rather long post, so if you don't want to read the whole thing, I totally understand.
Scout is a month old tomorrow and I cannot believe it's been that long since I gave birth to him already, but anywho, here's how it all went down.

Thursday 29th May, I woke up with some strange pains. I'd describe them as period pains, nothing more than that. What I didn't realise, was that they were coming in waves. They were enough to wake me up so I rolled over in bed, but I could easily get back to sleep. It was only when I woke up, that I realised they were quite regular. At this point I woke Liam up. I poked him on the back and he mumbled the words, 'Don't poke me, I'll fight you.' In which I replied, 'you can't fight me, I think I'm having contractions.' I have never seen him wake up and move so quick.
The day went on and my contractions were coming 6 minutes apart and lasting 45 seconds. Unfortunately later in the afternoon they started to get further apart and less frequent, so we went for a walk that shot them into action. We tootled off to the hospital, I was checked over, but was only 1cm dilated and got sent home.
The night was really difficult. Trying to sleep was a nightmare, and the pains were 10 times worse when I was lying down.
Friday morning came and they were back to being pretty frequent. At this point they still weren't at the 5 minutes apart stage, but they were insanely painful. In these two days we called the delivery suite several times asking if there was anything I could do/take because I was struggling to get through them. They just kept on saying to wait it out and take paracetamol.
Again, Friday night was horrible.
Very early hours of Saturday morning, my contractions were finally five minutes apart, but still not at a minute long. All I remember of that point was just the fact that I couldn't even talk through them. I hadn't slept for two nights and I felt exhausted.
At this point we could finally head back to the delivery suite. After being monitored for half an hour, my contractions were again not so frequent, and I was still only 2cm. I was given a shot of pethidine so I could finally get a little bit of rest; but after having this I wasn't aloud to leave the hospital, so we went up to the ward. I can't remember how long we were there, but I do know that we spent a good while walking around the hospital trying to bring the contractions together. The pethidine didn't really help though and they went off completely. Either that or it was just so good at killing my pain, that I just didn't feel them anymore.
After the pethidine had worn off and the contractions didn't return, we decided to head home. This is when it all kicked off.
Liam's parents (who were visiting at the time) decided to take us out for lunch. I felt totally fine, so agreed. The minute we had sat down and ordered our food, my contractions came back. Hard. We started timing them and they very quickly became closer together. I managed to sit through them as everyone ate their food, but I certainly couldn't eat mine. As soon as everyone was done I asked if they could take me straight back to the hospital. I just knew that things were going to happen soon. I didn't even have my hospital bag and they had to go back to our house to pick it up for us.

When we got to the hospital I was 6cm. I was given some gas and air, but I hated it. That stuff is nasty and I don't think I'd ever want to use it again. It made me feel incredibly sick.
This is when things start getting blurry. Things moved really fast.
In an hour or so, I had progressed to 8cm, Scout was back to back and a doctor came in to examine me. He was going to try and turn him, but in the next contraction, he turned himself. In one quick move.
The next discovery was that Scout had pooped inside me. Also, that at some point in the past couple of days, my waters had gone and I had absolutely no clue. I still can't figure out when they had gone.
I started to feel like I needed to push but the midwife was adamant I wasn't ready. It took me screaming at her to examine me before she did and said, well ok then, push. I had gone from 8cm to 10cm in 2 contractions.

Less than half an hour of pushing, Scout was born. Saturday 31st May at 7:05pm, weighing 7lbs 13oz. I had given up on the gas and air by this point so theoretically I did it with no pain relief. He shot out really quickly, was placed on my chest then whisked away to be check over. Liam didn't get to cut his cord, and I didn't get the skin to skin I wanted. At this point I knew something wasn't right.
I don't remember much from this point. My placenta had come apart in bits and my uterus wasn't contracting back down. I had one person scooping bits out (sorry, really gross I know), one woman rubbing my belly in circles for how long, I don't know; and more and more people keep appearing.
At some point Scout was popped back on my chest for a cuddle. There are photos, but I don't remember it at all. I was losing A LOT of blood. At one point someone was asked how much and another person said 2 litres.
Then I had to go to theatre. I signed the consent form through my dizziness and I kept being told to keep my eyes open. One thing that sticks in my head was being told that if things were really bad, I'd have to have a hysterectomy. It was a very, very small chance that would need to happen, but it terrified me. All I remember was telling Liam I loved him as I was wheeled out of the delivery room.
I woke up from surgery 3 hours later. I had lost a total of 3 and a half litres of blood. Which is crazy to think about considering an average adult has 5 litres in their body. Apparently my liver and kidneys had started to shut down and I had to have 4 transfusions of blood.
I remember hearing the nurse before I could open my eyes, and the first thing I did was reach down to my belly to feel if I had had to be cut open. I hadn't.

After I woke up, I was wheeled back to a little ward on the delivery suite to recover. I finally got to meet my little boy properly and Liam could finally sigh a huge sigh of relief. I can't imagine how he must have felt, waiting in the room I gave birth, for 3 hours. He did admit that he cried when they told him I was fine. I honestly don't know how he stayed so strong through it all.

So that's pretty much it. I spent the next 4 days in hospital recovering. I had drips galore and many tablets to take. I had to drink tons of water and blood tests every morning. My heart rate and blood pressure were awful, and even though my haemoglobin levels were initially pretty good after my transfusions, my levels plummeted the day before we came home. I felt completely fine in myself. In fact, I felt amazing considering what I had gone through. On the fourth day, we were fed up of the hospital and we made it very clear that we wanted to go home, so when the midwife in charge was happy that I wasn't going to pass out anytime soon, they sent us on our way; armed with a massive supply of antibiotics and iron tablets.

Nothing went how I planned it, my birth plan wasn't followed in the slightest; heck I don't even think it got read, but I'm still here and I have my little boy. My labour hasn't put me off having more children, but my next one will now be classed as high risk. I've already decided that if I can have an elective C-section, I will.
We'll wait a few years first though.

Hi guys!!

Oh my goodness, how I've missed sitting down and writing out blog posts.
I'm pretty sure you will all know by now, but three weeks ago I gave birth to our beautiful baby boy. The labour was pretty traumatic and hopefully I will have a labour story post up soon; but I am so thankful that we now have little Scout in our arms.

I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who is still popping by WFF to read previous posts. Scout is not much of a daytime sleeper, so getting new ones written at the minute is very, very difficult. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks things will get a bit easier though. I'm also absolutely dying to introduce him over on the WFF youtube channel. I think my first video back may be his one month postpartum update. How mums jump right back into this stuff just days after their baby is born, I don't know.

Anywho, he is currently sleeping with his Daddy in bed and I can here him stirring. That means it's time for food.
If you want to keep up with us whilst I'm not around on here much, we are still posting vlogs on our daily channel. They sometimes aren't so daily, but there is new content going up on there more often than not.

Hope you've all been well! I miss you!!

How far along? 39 Weeks
Total weight gain: I've not gained or lost anything this week, so I'm still sitting at roughly 25lbs gain.
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now.
Stretch marks? Liam described them as angry today. I guess they are a little angry. The lower he gets the redder they get. The only thing that's bothering me about them is the itchiness.
Best moment this week: I can't really think of anything but seeing his little profile on the scan last week. This week has been really uneventful.
Miss anything? Being able to eat what I like without worrying about heartburn. He may have dropped really low, but heartburn is insane at the minute. Whole milk is my only friend.
Movement: Yup! I'm sure he's trying to break a rib before he comes out.
Food cravings: I'm really thirsty at the minute, but I think that may just be down to the weather.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just the usual cat or dog poop.
Gender: Boy! I'm getting really paranoid that he's gonna come out a girl now though.
Labor signs: A few braxton hicks, and I felt really sick and crampy a few nights ago, but it didn't come to anything.
Symptoms: Tiredness, and intense heartburn!
Belly button in or out? Out!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time:  Happy, but impatient! I've been a bit emotional this week because I'm bored of waiting now.
Looking forward to: If I go overdue, I'm looking forward to my midwife appointment at 40+3. I'm hoping she'll suggest a sweep to try and get things moving.

Since finding out I was pregnant, I always knew that I wanted to take some kind of maternity photos. Apart from the thumbnails that I use for my weekly baby updates on YouTube, I've not really taken any bump photos.
Of course Pinterest was my first port of call for ideas. I wanted simple images that I wouldn't get bored of looking at and these are the ones that I used for inspiration in the end.
Photos from pinterest - will be happy to link any original sources.
As I turned 37 weeks on Sunday, I knew that I should probably take them soon. So last Thursday, I made it my mission. I took all of them myself, just me and my camera. It took a while, but I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I loved the sepia/old photo filter used on the silhouette shot above so much, that I decided to use that as inspiration for my own.
I wouldn't normally post photos of me showing so much skin, but seeing as this is the only baby I'm planning on having for a good few years, I thought why the heck not.
whenflowersfall, maternity photos, bump, pictures, pregnancy,
I wonder how long it'll be until little Scout decides to make an appearance.

How far along? 34 weeks.
Total weight gain: 21lbs. This seems to be my new plateau. It's definitely not effecting the babies growth though. Fundal height this week measured at 36 weeks.
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now. I'm totally focused on my postpartum wardrobe!
Stretch marks? YES! NEW ONES! I noticed that my tattoo felt a little funny and there it was, a little stretch mark running through one of my paw prints. It looks a little sad now. I also have another tiny one on the other side of my belly which I'm expecting to get much bigger.
Best moment this week: Hearing Scout's heartbeat at our midwife appointment. It's the best noise ever. My midwife had just felt how low his head was and it was beating really fast from the poking. It took him a little while to calm down.
Miss anything? Being comfortable. I've reached that point where I'm uncomfortable a lot of the time.
Movement: Lots. I've noticed it more after our appointment too. I think he's definitely running out of space in there.
Food cravings: I was craving meat at the beginning of the week, but I've also found that I just want anything that I see a picture of. Instagram is my enemy at the minute.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I think bad smells are always going to be an issue for me.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope. I have had a good few tightenings again this week though.
Symptoms: Pure hunger, all the time, and aching all the time.
Belly button in or out? Out a lot of the time now!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time: Mood swings have made a comeback.
Looking forward to: My next midwife appointment. It'll be the appointment we get to talk about our birth choices. I'm so excited.

How far along? 33 weeks.
Total weight gain: 21lbs. I seem to have finally gotten over that 20 mark.
Maternity clothes? Nope, but my maternity leggings are finally dying. Eeek! I'm wondering if I can make them last another 7 weeks.
Stretch marks? Still my hip ones. I thought I saw a couple on my belly the other day, it turned out I'd just slept on wrinkly sheets.
Best moment this week: Having our last scan and finding out that he's weighing 4lbs 14oz already!
Miss anything? I can't really bend down and reach the floor anymore. I'm now having to do the ever classy squatting.
Movement: Lots. I think he's discovered the fact that he can move his legs and I've seen his knees a couple of times.
Food cravings: I'm back to craving meat. Gimme all the steak and burgers!!!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I think bad smells are always going to be an issue for me.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Does starting to feel like a whale count? The water retention and puffiness has begun to appear.
Belly button in or out? Out a lot of the time now!
Engagement ring on or off? Off. It doesn't even go past my knuckle!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! My anxiety has been really good this week and not really an issue.
Looking forward to: Seeing Liam's parents next week! We've not seen them since Christmas. I was only 17? weeks pregnant then. They're also bringing a whole ton of stuff for Scout with them. I may not have had a baby shower, but by the sounds of it, I didn't really need to with the amount of shopping Liam's mum has done.

Helloooo, everyone.
It seems I haven't posted a baby update on the blog for a few weeks now, and today the tables have turned. Many things today stopped me from filming my 32 weeks youtube update, so I thought I should do this for sure!
I've not taken a belly shot this week, but after editing today's daily vlog I did manage to get this screen shot. Oh my, I look mighty awful, but look at the size of my belly!!! When did it get that big?!? I officially feel like I'm going to pop...

How far along? 32 weeks. Argh!
Total weight gain: Last time I checked, I was still sitting at around 20lbs. Although, I'll update this tomorrow morning once I've weighed myself. It's probably gone up a couple as I feel huge!
Maternity clothes? Still haven't purchased anything new.
Stretch marks? Just the same ones I've had for the past few weeks. I feel like my belly button is getting pretty stretched now though, so I'm half expecting to wake up with some new ones soon.
Best moment this week: Getting through our 3 hour birth class. I was dreading it and actually really enjoyed it.
Miss anything? Being able to comfortably sit at my desk. Scout is well and truly in my ribs now and it's becoming insanely uncomfortable. Hence the lack of posts recently.
Movement: Lots. They are definitely more rolls and waves now though. Strong jabs and kicks are very few and far between during the day now. He goes mad at night when I'm laying on the side he's living on.
Food cravings: None, but I'm ashamed to say that our eating habits recently have been awful!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I think bad smells are always going to be an issue for me.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: I'm just uncomfortable. Oh, and I can't touch my toes whilst I'm sitting down anymore! Haha! Also, my fingers and toes are beginning to look more sausage-like.
Belly button in or out? I still don't know what it's doing. In if I'm standing up with the top bit poking out a little. Out if I'm sitting or lying down. Definitely out when I laugh. It's really gross.
Engagement ring on or off? Off. I really miss it.
Happy or moody most of the time: I've been quite happy this week. I've had a few moments of extreme anxiety, but I think that's down to me getting nervous about giving birth.
Looking forward to: Our scan on Monday! I'm hoping we can double check that he is for sure a little boy and maybe get to see some chubby cheeks. I guess it'll depend on how he's positioned.

A few weeks back I was asked if I would be interested in trying out the pregnancy + app* from health-and-parenting.com. I jumped at the chance as even though I've used a couple of apps already throughout my pregnancy, I felt a new one would probably spark my excitement once again. Using the same app that only covers limited things can get a little boring and this one seemed to have everything, and I'm not kidding when I say everything you could possibly need.

Below, I have covered all this app has to offer.

Setup
Set up of the app is insanely easy. The app asks you for all of the important details it will need to guide you throughout your pregnancy.

The first page will ask you to set up your account, creating your username and password. I didn't take a photo of this page. Then, it'll ask you for things such as who you are, the gender (if you know it), and most importantly the due date.

During setup you can set which units you would like the app to work in and also if you would like the app to send you push notifications.

Today/Main Menu
The main page of the app is where you can access all of your information. It welcomes you with the weeks image, your own profile picture and how far along in your pregnancy you are.

The today page tells you how long you have left and the size of your baby, along with easy access to any important or interesting information you may want to get to quickly.

Play
On the 'play' page you can see this weeks image.
You can either press play and watch all of the images play out as a slideshow, or you can flick through the images by running your finger along the scrub bar at the bottom.

The images are soft and easy to look at, giving you a great idea of what you unborn baby would be looking like at any given point.

The free version of this app only takes you up to week 14 and in order to unlock the rest of the images you will have to purchase the full app.

Baby
The 'Baby' page lets you access
- daily information and advise, all of which is catered to where you are in your pregnancy.
- weekly information about your baby, such as it's length and weight. This page also tells you about how your baby is developing, how you are likely to be feeling, health tips and tricks, and also some great info for your partner.
- images. Here you can again see the images from the 'Play' page. You can also see real 2d and 3d scans for each week.
- size. This will let you access the size guide giving you a fruit or vegetable to compare the size of your unborn baby.
- the timeline. This part of the app is great, you can see a full timeline of important points in your pregnancy. It also gives you an idea of when you should do certain things like pack you hospital bag.
whenflowersfall pregnancy plus app review birth pregnant - kick counter. Many doctors are said to recommend you start counting your baby's kicks from around 28 weeks. This page gives you a two hour timer and a button to hit every time you feel a kick or movement. It'll then save this information for future reference.

Me
The 'Me' page gives you access to
- a guide page, giving you information of food, labour, exercise and any medical questions you may have.
- my weight, where you can track your our weight gains and losses.
- my belly. This gives you images of how your belly is likely to look and also how you baby may be lying inside your uterus. You can also track your own belly growth by uploading your own photos.
- birth plan. Here you can get information on what a birth plan is. You can also go through a few simple lists to select any situations you may wish to happen throughout your labour and birth.
- the appointments page. This page is super simple. You can add any upcoming appointments you may have and they can also be synced to your calendar from here.
- a to do page, where you can create your own lists of things you would like to get done.

whenflowersfall pregnancy plus app review birth pregnant

More
The 'more' page is the last tab which covers
- your settings for the entire app.
- phone. A place to store any important numbers you may need.
- baby names. A page which gives you lists upon lists of names from all kinds of nationalities and backgrounds.
- shopping. This part gives you many lists of possibly important items you may forget to buy.
- hospital bag. Again, some more helpful lists of things you may need/want to pack in your own bag, baby's bag or even your partner's bag.
- contractions. Much like the kick counter from the 'baby' page. This little helpful tool will help to count and time your contractions when the time comes.

I think it's safe to say that I love using this app. I've been opening this app at least once a day and I'm sure I'll be using it right up until little Scout is born.
I find the app incredibly easy to navigate. It's smooth in operation and gives you everything you need with a few easy touches of the screen.
The bright colours make it a joy to look at without making it look too busy and it's generally a very aesthetically pleasing app to use.
I've already made great use of the kick counter, weight tracker and some of the many lists. I will also definitely be reaching for the when the day comes for me to track contractions.
I would recommend this app to anyone expecting a baby. I think it would be particularly helpful to anyone expecting their first, like me.

There is a free version of this app available, but it only covers certain things, such as images and information up to 14 weeks. For all tools and information you can download the full version for only £1.99.

*I was not paid in any form to write this post, although I was given a code to download the full version of the app for free.

How far along? 28 weeks! Officially in 3rd trimester land now!
Total weight gain: 20lbs. I gained 2lbs last when when I forgot to update, and 3lbs this week. My weight has been something I've felt super self-conscious about this week.
Maternity clothes? Still haven't purchased anything new.
Stretch marks? The good old hip one but that's it.
Best moment this week: Getting the glucose tolerance test and whooping cough vaccine done and out of the way. I'm still waiting to hear back for results from the GTT but at least it's done.
Miss anything? I had a moment this week where I really felt like I missed just being able to have a glass of wine. I never thought in a million years that I would miss being able to have a drink, but it was a tough day and that's all I wanted.
Movement: Lots. In my video update I say that he has been getting into a routine and not being so noticeably active during the day, by oh my has he been a fidget today. I also don't wanna jinx it, but I feel like he may have moved up a teeny bit. I've been way more comfortable today.
Food cravings: Nope.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Bad smells still. Also, if I don't eat often enough I start to feel sick really quickly.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: A few braxton hicks, but nothing apart from the odd tightening.
Symptoms: Backache, the odd bit of heartburn and forgetfulness! I've lost my brain!!
Belly button in or out? I don't know what it's doing. It's in if I'm standing up, but verging on out if I'm lying down/ sitting back. I think it may pop soon.
Engagement ring on or off? Off :(
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time, but this week has been a tad emotional and Liam had to give me a pep talk half way through the week.
Looking forward to: The 32 week scan. It's still 4 weeks off, but I'm dying to see my little boy again!

Hey, you lovely lot!

So it turns out that I didn't actually do a 25 week blog post last week. Baby brain has well and truly kicked in. If you do feel as though you've missed a week and want to catch up, you can watch the 25 week video update here.

Moving on to this week, I'm really starting to feel this pregnancy.

26 weeks pregnant, pregnancy update, pregnancy, pregnant, baby, blog, whenflowersfall, youtube, video

How far along? 26 Weeks! So close to the 3rd trimester.
Total weight gain:I doubled checked my starting weight according to my records and I was actually less than I thought I was at the beginning. This means my weight gain is sitting at 15lbs. I'm ok with that.
Maternity clothes? Nope.
Stretch marks? Still no new ones that I've noticed. My old hip ones are definitely noticeable though. Liam asked if they were new ones last night.
Best moment this week: Pretty much finishing our big baby buys. We only really need to get the little easy bits now. Bath stuff, skincare etc.
Miss anything? Sleep, sleep, sleep! I've had a few uncomfortable nights this week, and I've even had a couple of nightmares. Something I've never suffered with before. Our new bed comes today though so I'm half expecting to sleep like a log tonight!
Movement: This little guy is so active! I'm noticing it so much more this week. His quiet periods are getting less frequent and even Liam can see him rolling about from the outside now.
Food cravings: Not that I can think of.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just bad smells. I have a really weak stomach anyway. Roll on baby sick and poop!
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Backache, braxton hicks, heartburn, general tiredness.
Belly button in or out? In, but it really does feel like it may actually pop.
Engagement ring on or off? Off :(
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, generally. I've had a low mood here and there but that's just down to being grumpy about my backache.
Looking forward to: My new kingsize bed! Hello more space!
Hope you all have a fab Friday!

youtube, whenflowersfall, baby update, pregnancy update, week 24, 24 weeks pregnant

How far along? 24 Weeks!
Total weight gain: Truth be told, I haven't weighed myself this week, and the midwife also didn't at my appointment. I'll make sure to find out by next week.
Maternity clothes? Nope.
Stretch marks? My old hip ones are definitely making a more obvious appearance now. My belly has also been super itchy so I'm making more of an effort to moisturise.
Best moment this week: Catching more kicks on camera.
Miss anything? Still sleep. We've now got some damp in our bedroom and I've been waking up congested in the mornings. The past couple of nights have been soother by the dehumidifier though so fingers crossed sleep will start getting better. We're also buying our new bed and mattress soon!
Movement: It's getting more frequent, although he does still like his lazy days.
Food cravings: I had a Snickers ice cream last weekend and that's kicked off some kind of ice cream obsession.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Dog poop. He's had a few accidents in the house this week and muggins has had to deal with it. Not my favourite thing in the world.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Dry skin, spots and dandruff getting worse by the day. I've never really suffered with any of these things before but my skin currently feels like a desert.
Belly button in or out? In, but I'm starting to wonder if it will pop or not.
Engagement ring on or off? Off! I'm missing wearing it so bad!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time, but I've been really low and stressed feeling for the past couple of days.
Looking forward to: The possibility of finishing our baby buys in the next month. I shall fill you in a bit more when the time comes.
