Now, it's not very often I win a competition, but I do like to enter them every now and then. So you can imagine my surprise when I won one of two ColourPop sets being given away by Beauty Crowd last week.

If you're in the UK, then you will know how hard it is to get hold of anything from ColourPop over here, and Beauty Crowd are trying their darned hardest to get them to let them stock them for Uk customers.

The set that I won was the 'Mondays in Malibu' eyeshadow collection, and it appeared on my door step yesterday morning. I have never been so excited and eager to take blog photos, all so I could put the products on my face.

The set consists of six of their super shock shadows, two pearlised finishes, one metallic, two satin luxe and one ultra metallic finish. They are beautiful.

The shadows are super duper soft, not powdery in the slightest, and almost feel like a cream. In the US, this set sells for $30, which I think is a bargain for the quality of these shadows.

GECKO is described as a soft opalescent green with a pink duo chrome. As you can see from the photo, it seems more pink than green; and I think that translates more than the green does.


SNAKEBITE is a warm gold with an ultra metallic finish. This is the most beautiful shade and would complement blue eyes perfectly.


SAND SWOON is a true pink shade and is described as a satin luxe finish. The pink has soft gold flecks throughout.


PRICKLY PEAR is my ultimate favourite in this collection. It is a metallic finish and is described as a warm toned plum with gold and pink throughout.


MIRAGE is a soft gold-green tone and is a pearlised finish. Upon swatching, I find the green is very subtle and is more of a gold.


HOT TAMALE is another satin luxe finish. It is a true mahogany brown, with copper sparkles throughout. This is a close runner for favourite again Prickly pear.



I swatched the shadows onto my arm, without any primer underneath. As I said above, they are all super soft and easily workable. I really hope that Beauty Crowd can get ColourPop on their side, and will be stocking the brand soon. The products are incredible and I would absolutely love to try their blushes and lippie stix. The US has gone bonkers for their new ultra matte lip creams recently, and I think they would be top of my purchase soon list, if they became readily available here in the UK.

I've been umming and ahh-ing over going blonder aain for months now, so when I was asked if I would like to try out a Jerome Russell Bblonde product or two, it seemed like fate.
I asked to try out the new Ombre kit in Number one, as I figured this would be a nice way to jump start the journey back to the lighter side.

Now, as you can see in see in the before photos, I did already have some blonde in the ends of my hair. This was from a little play around with some bleach I had laying in a drawer. Funnily enough, it was from Jerome Russell. I was hoping to make it more of a solid ombre and neaten up any patchy parts that I had made. Let's make it known now, I am not trained in hair at all. I just do it for fun.

There are two new ombre kits now available. Number one, for light to dark brown hair; and number two, for blonde to medium brown hair. Kit number one is said to be able to lift the hair a couple of extra shades than number two. 

In the kits you will receive everything you need. The bleach powder and peroxide, the conditioning shampoo, instructions, tinting brush, mixing bowl and gloves; and a marvellous product called the blending lotion. I think this is what sets this ombre kit aside from others on the market. 

You begin by applying the blending lotion where you would like the ombre to start. This meant, because of the length of my hair, I applied this to the mid section just above my the blonde I already had. Then, once you have mixed the bleach, you just apply that from where you popped on the blending lotion, down to the ends on your hair. The key is to not apply any bleach above the blending lotion. 

It does just that. It creates a form of barrier for the bleach, meaning it will lighten your hair, but not to the strength of the bleach on the ends of your hair where the lotion isn't. 

I loved the addition of this product. It makes the kit so incredibly easy to use, and you aren't left with the line that you can sometimes get stuck with when trying to ombre at home. 

Now, you may be thinking 'YIKES THATS ORANGE,' but let me say that I didn't end up leaving it on for the maximum time. Unfortunately, Scout woke up from his nap (an hour early) mid way through and I didn't want to risk him getting covered in bleach.  I'm pretty sure if you do leave this on longer than the 20 minutes that I did, you would see far more lifting from the bleach.

I was very impressed with the result though! The blending lotion really did it's job well, and considering I do have some strong red tones in my hair from previous brown box dyes, it could have been a heck of a lot worse on the orange side.

As for the condition of my hair, of course I followed up with the conditioning shampoo supplied, and my hair felt amazing. It didn't feel damaged in the slightest and was actually really soft and fluffy.

A couple of days later, I did follow up with the Jerome Russell BBlonde Platinum toner, which I picked up from Superdrug. It really helped to lift some of the brassiness out of my hair and made it more of a softer, natural kind of blonde.

If you are looking to ombre your hair, I wouldn't recommend this kit enough.

A few weeks ago, I came across a company looking for parents to review a product called the Gummee Glove. I was pretty intrigued and when I found out what it actually was, I replied to their tweet.

The 'My First Gummee Gloves' are anti-scratch mittens designed for babies 0-3 months. Available in 3 colours, the mittens feature raised silicone dots that massage your baby's gums. They have a velcro fastening at the wrist meaning that these mittens stay on! Any parent knows how difficult it is to get baby's mitts to stay on their hands; and if you are concerned about germs, these are also completely machine washable.

Now, Scout isn't teething yet, he's only two months old; but he does love to chew and suck on his hands. In fact it was the first thing he did after he was born.
It took a few attempts to get the mitts onto his hands, as he is a real fidget and tends to always have in hands in fists. I found his hand had to be almost entirely flat to get the mitt on, but once fastened, these suckers don't budge. He wasn't so sure about them at first, but when he discovered that he could still chew on his fingers, he loved them. I imagine the silicone dots felt really nice on his gums and he seemed pretty content for a good while.

I'd recommend these for any parent who's child is a chewer. It'll save their little fingers and feel great on their gums. They'd even make a great baby shower gift, as you probably wouldn't think to purchase them yourself.
Now the weather is starting to cool down a little, I will be putting these on Scout more often. Those hands of his are for sure his favourite thing.

First Impressions - Arbonne Baby Care* arbonne | baby care | beauty | lifestyle | review | whenflowersfall

A few weeks before Scout was born I agreed to try some of the new baby care products from Arbonne. 

Unfortunately, the rep couldn't send me any samples bigger than these 3ml tubes, so I feel I can't give a full review on these products. 

For any skincare, I would usually like to test a product for at least a week for see how the skin reacts, and how the product performs. So due to the fact that we only got one use out of these little samples, I figured I'd write a 'first impressions' kind of post instead. 

Hair & Body Wash
I very much liked this wash. I found the scent to be pleasant and not too strong, something I think is important for a baby product. The product isn't too thick and lathers just enough to make it feel like it's working, but doesn't create so many bubbles that it becomes overwhelming. I found it rinsed well and didn't leave any residue; it also didn't seem to dry out Scout's skin.
Body Lotion
Probably my favourite of the four products.
The body lotion is a smooth cream, not too thick. Again, it had a very subtle scent, nothing that would seem too offensive to a babies nose. Scout still has pretty dry skin and upon first use this seemed to kick some of it. It sank in very quickly, leaving his skin feeling soft, moisturised and most importantly, not sticky.
Water Resistant Sunscreen
As Scout is only five weeks old, I haven't tried this on him.
The sunscreen has a distinct smell of aniseed. It's pretty strong and took me a little by surprise. The smell does fade quite quickly and becomes the familiar smell of sunscreen.
The cream itself sinks into skin incredibly fast and doesn't take much rubbing. Unlike many sunscreens, this one doesn't leave a greasy residue on the skin and actually makes your skin feel incredibly soft.
Herbal Nappy Cream
Lastly, the nappy cream is thick, but workable. It's easy to apply and sits well on the skin. I could see from the couple of uses we had, that this cream had sunk into the skin well and reduced the redness on Scout's toosh.

 I'm pretty impressed with the results we were able to achieve with minimal uses; and I'd be very interested to see how these products work on a long term basis.

W7 Full Time Lip Colour* | Review beauty | full time lip colour | review | w7 | whenflowersfall

W7 is a brand I have talked a lot about on this blog. It's a budget cosmetics brand which often goes overlooked, but in all honesty, their products are just as good as those which as well known and well used. 

I was super exited to recently receive a few things to try from them, the first things that caught my eyes being these; The Full Time Lip Colour*.

This product consists of an incredibly pigmented lip colour which applies as a gloss, but dries to a soft matte finish; and a clear gloss. The idea is that you apply the colour first, letting it dry completely before applying the gloss on top. The product claims it will last 24/7, so of course I put them to the test. 

First I tried them swatched on my hand. I spent the day cleaning and doing other daily bits, and neither shade budged. Unfortunately when worn on the lips though, they didn't last as well. 

Although it looks stunning at first, I did find that the product wore away in the center of the lips after a few hours. (See pictures) More so where you would lick your lips throughout the day, or eat and drink. The edges of my lips on the other hand, did not move. At all. I think how this product wears is really down to what you do whilst wearing it. I honestly think this is a perfect lip product for any occasion where you aren't eating or drinking too much.

The only other teeny issue I had with it was the stickiness of the gloss. I think if the gloss was smooth and not so sticky, the product may last even better. I feel like the gloss may be one of the reasons that the middle wore off so easily. I did try using the lip colour alone, without the gloss, but it still didn't quite dry completely. Again, this could be down to the fact that your lips are always moist. (Oh, I hate that word.)

I know I've picked a few issues with this product, but on the whole I really did like it. The pigmentation for starters is incredible. It applies like a dream and if you wear it at the right time, it lasts really well.

I will update here as soon as I can find out a price point for these, but I really can't imagine them being too much. They'd definitely be worth it for even a few hours wear at a time.

NYX Mosaic Powder - Rosey | Review beauty | blush | mosaic powder | NYX | review | whenflowersfall

This has been sitting in my drafts folder for such a long time. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to write either, this is one of my favourite products at the minute. 

The NYX mosaic powder in Rosey is a powder product consisting of 5 different shades. If you're careful with your brush you can use each of these individually, or you can just do what I do and swirl your brush in all five to pick up a mixture of the shades. 

All shades have a very slight, ever so soft shimmer to them. Once applied to the cheeks this creates a beautiful colour and glow.

To me this is a perfect cheek colour for the upcoming Summer months. It applies like a dream and lasts all day. There are also many other shades to choose from.

Purple is one of those colours that can suit anyone. The W7 Purple Haze eyeshadow quad* has four shades, all of which are very different from the next.
The shadows themselves are soft and well pigmented. They are so easy to work with and really blendable, but if you do purchase this, be a little careful with the darkest shade as this can create a little fallout when applied.
In the eye look above I have used all four shades; the lightest all over the lid, the heather type shade through the crease and the second to darkest shade in the upper outer corner. I have the darkest shade along my bottom lash line. Please note that the inner corner shade is not from this palette. I wore this look throughout the day and the shadows lasted well up until I removed them in the evening.
I would really recommend this quad to everyone. I've never been one for wearing purple shadow myself, but this has made me fall in love with it a little bit. With the four shades, you could create a whole variety of looks for the upcoming Summer months.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer - Radiant Rose | Review beauty | instant radiance shimmer | radiant rose | review | rimmel | whenflowersfall

A product I bought on a whim. One I thought I'd try, but didn't think I'd enjoy using as much as I do.

The Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer is a lightweight, blendable mousse formula. The product is incredibly workable and doesn't dry too quickly.
A little goes a very long way, so apply with caution. I like to apply this with either my fingers or a stipple brush. I think I prefer using a stipple brush though as it means the product is distributed evenly and leaves you with a smooth finish.
Although the Radiance Shimmer is great for highlighting the higher points of your cheeks, I also find it works great on it's own for an all over colour. It has just enough pigmentation to give a really soft, summery glow without being too over powering. Add the beautiful shimmer in the product and it just looks stunning. Because this is a mousse/cream formula, the colour is long lasting and has stayed on my cheeks for a good length of time even on our warmest days.

I really love love this product and shall be picking up another shade or two sometime in the future.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick - Oxford St. Fuchsia | Review beauty | lipstick | oxford street fuchsia | review | rimmel | whenflowersfall

Oh Rimmel, you could do no wrong with this lipstick.
Of course, I never need another pink lipstick in my collection, but I kinda did.

The moisture renew lipstick in Oxford Street Fuchsia is a gorgeous blue toned pink, which is just as beautiful on the lips as it is in the bullet.
The formula is soft and easy to work with. It applies like a dream and is incredibly pigmented. My favourite thing about this lipstick is, even though its is incredibly moisturising, it lasts forever on the lips. I have worn this, eaten and drank a couple of drinks, and this still leaves a nice sheer colour on my lips. Don't get me wrong, it's not as perfect as when first applied, but it doesn't leave you with that horrid lipstick liner look. The colour stays pretty even over your entire lip whilst it wears off throughout the day.

I have nothing to say but good things about this lipstick, and I'm very tempted to go and pick up a few more shades in this range.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation | Review beauty | foundation | review | rimmel | stay matte | whenflowersfall

The Rimmel Stay Matte mousse foundation is one that I didn't think I would end up trying, but when I saw it for a very slightly lower price on Fragrance Direct, I thought why not.
Now, many years ago I was obsessed with the Dream matte mousse from Maybelline. I thought it was the bee's knees and wore it every day. Unfortunately, as I grew and my skin started to change, I found it didn't work for me any more and it began to stick to the dry patches I had had to start dealing with. Because of this, this is exactly what I expected from this foundation.
Luckily, I was wrong and found this completely different.

This foundation applies really easily. I would say that it is best controlled being applied with your fingers, but it can be applied with a brush if you prefer. I just find it takes a little longer to get the desired finish.
The foundation gives a good medium coverage and does exactly what it says on the tube. The finish is matte, but totally not what I had expected. I had imagined it would be smooth and silicone-y feeling, but in fact it actually feels a little waxy on the skin. This is probably the one thing I didn't like.

The wear of this foundation is pretty good. I'd say you could easily get six hours out of it before it starts to move (I found it slipped from around my nose,) although this could probably be prolonged with the application of a powder.
As for sticking to my dry patches, I found it did a little, but nothing overly noticeable, especially not unless you were looking for it. I've heard from a few people since testing this product and a few have said that it didn't fit so well with their oilier skin. This may be down to the waxy finish that doesn't seem to set.

The Honey Queen honeycomb blusher* is a new release from W7. 

Much like another well known brands box blushes, this one is housed in strong cardboard packaging and comes with a handy brush for application. 

Honey Queen is a multi tonal blush consisting of four different shades; two peaches, a pink and a soft lilac, all of which carry a very soft silvery shimmer. Swirled together, the mixture creates a beautiful, almost bronzey colour. The shimmer in the blush is beautifully subtle and creates the most perfect glow on the cheeks.
I particularly like this blush as you can apply it as softly or as heavy handedly as you like, and it still looks beautiful. I really think this is a fantastic cheek product for the upcoming summer months, and I for sure will be reaching for it a whole lot.
