Excuse me, what? I have a one year old? How the fudge did that happen??

But, yes. It's been almost a month since Scout turned one. The day fell on a Sunday, and a week and a half after our big move. Unfortunately, this meant we had no time to organise a party of any kind, so it just ended up being a family day.

lifestyle, birthday, parent, scout, baby jones, one, whenflowersfall,

He started his first day by having the LONGEST lie in he's ever had. I think it was about nine before he stirred and we walked in to our happy little chunk. He had his morning milk, we spent an hour ripping into presents, and then headed to Frankie & Benny's for a birthday breakfast.
We spent the day doing a bit of shopping, and after his nap we headed to his Grammy's house. Liam's mum had put out a bit of a buffet tea, he cautiously made his way through his smash cake and we ate farrrr too much.

lifestyle, birthday, parent, scout, baby jones, one, whenflowersfall, smashcake

At a year old, Scout...
- weighs 22lbs (measured at 1 year check at 11 months)
- is 79cms tall (measured at 1 year check at 11 months)
- wears size 12-18 month
- has six teeth.
- babbles all the time. His favourite words are ducky (duk-eeeeee), mama, dada, cat and nom nom nom.
- crawls like a champ, but has been a lazy bones when it comes to walking. He can do it, just. He just doesn't seem interested in it yet.
- is always on his feet. He loves to stand and play.
- can climb onto the sofa without any effort. I can no longer leave him playing for two minutes to pick up the brew I made ten minutes ago. He will always be bouncing on the sofa, the moment I turn my back. I birthed a monkey.
- has three big boy meals a day. He has milk when he first wakes and before naptime/bed. He is also now on cows milk, so now more buying formula for us!!
- only has one nap a day now. He's just on the go all the time.
- drinks from a cup, unless it's for his milk. We're just starting our journey to get rid of the bottles completely. We just need to find a cup Scout likes for it.
- loves Peppa pig, Duggee, any book, pasta, building blocks and Luna, our cat. He's obsessed with her.
- takes after his dad. They are both so incredibly clumsy. I think I'm going to have my hands full when he grows up. I'm expecting more than the usual amounts of cuts, grazes and broken bones. He's already split his lip three times. He's a nutter.

I'm sure there's a lot more I could include I'm this post, but I won't bore you too much.
This past year has been a total learning curve for me. I've learnt that I'm still not very good at coping under pressure. I've learnt that even when I'm angry, it only takes a smile from Scout to break me out of a bad mood. But most of all, I've learnt that through all of the bad days, sleepless nights, hours of feeling like a failure as a mum, I wouldn't change him for the world. I couldn't imagine my life without my little ray of sunshine.  I look forward to one day, giving him a baby brother or sister; but for now, I'm really enjoying watching him grow every day.

Baby Jones Update - Week 40!! (Labour Update)

Howdy folks!
I didn't know if I was going to write this today. I did plan on filming an update too, but I just don't feel like I can without crying through it. If you don't follow me on Twitter, then you won't already know that I have been in early labour since 6am yesterday morning. Contractions have gone from being nice and regular at 6 minutes apart for most of yesterday, to being really irregular since going in to be assessed last night. We popped in to the delivery suite as I was in quite a bit of pain, losing mucus plug (sorry tmi) and just not really feeling too good. Every thing was great, my blood pressure, Scout's heartbeat, urine etc. The midwife examined me and I was only 1cm, so she did a sweep.
Last night was intense. Whilst trying to sleep my contractions were coming every ten minutes and lasting well over a minute. They were much more painful as I was lying down, so I got up at half 4 and they were a bit more bearable.
Liam rang the delivery suite again at half 7 this morning when I got to the point of tears, but the midwife told him that obviously they needed to be regular and closer together, and that they can't really do anything to induce or help until I'm at least overdue by 12 days. I'm currently at 5. This I don't understand, and honestly can't imagine this lasting another 7 days.
So anyway, that's where I am now. I'm fumbling around the house, still having really random contractions. Tired, unhappy and just wanting my baby boy.

How far along? 40 weeks (+5)
Total weight gain: I've not weighed myself this week.
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now.
Stretch marks? The same old same old now.
Best moment this week: Having my midwife appointment on Wednesday and booking a sweep for Sunday.
Miss anything? Currently? Being able to sleep for longer than ten minutes without a contraction.
Movement: Yep, I'm trying to stay as aware of his movements as much as I can at the minute. According to the midwife we saw at the delivery suite yesterday, he's in a really awful position.
Food cravings: Nope. I'm not really feeling hungry for anything either. I'm making myself eat just because I know I need to.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Minute long contractions every 10 minutes...
Gender: Boy! I'm getting really paranoid that he's gonna come out a girl now though.
Labor signs: Haha! Yup! I've been contracting irregularly since 6am yesterday. I'm exhausted.
Symptoms: PAIN!
Belly button in or out? Out!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time:  I'm trying to stay happy, but as of today I'm finding it really hard. I honestly thought that after having a sweep at the delivery suite yesterday, things might have progressed, but nope. Everything just seems to be slowing down.
Looking forward to: Having this baby!!

How far along? 39 Weeks
Total weight gain: I've not gained or lost anything this week, so I'm still sitting at roughly 25lbs gain.
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now.
Stretch marks? Liam described them as angry today. I guess they are a little angry. The lower he gets the redder they get. The only thing that's bothering me about them is the itchiness.
Best moment this week: I can't really think of anything but seeing his little profile on the scan last week. This week has been really uneventful.
Miss anything? Being able to eat what I like without worrying about heartburn. He may have dropped really low, but heartburn is insane at the minute. Whole milk is my only friend.
Movement: Yup! I'm sure he's trying to break a rib before he comes out.
Food cravings: I'm really thirsty at the minute, but I think that may just be down to the weather.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just the usual cat or dog poop.
Gender: Boy! I'm getting really paranoid that he's gonna come out a girl now though.
Labor signs: A few braxton hicks, and I felt really sick and crampy a few nights ago, but it didn't come to anything.
Symptoms: Tiredness, and intense heartburn!
Belly button in or out? Out!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time:  Happy, but impatient! I've been a bit emotional this week because I'm bored of waiting now.
Looking forward to: If I go overdue, I'm looking forward to my midwife appointment at 40+3. I'm hoping she'll suggest a sweep to try and get things moving.

How far along? 38 Weeks
Total weight gain: 25lbs. I had weighed myself the other evening (never again) and thought I had gained another 5 up from that, but it's seems not. Thank goodness!
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now.
Stretch marks? Yes. Lots. But, they for the most part they are still silvery and not very angry looking. I got weirdly excited over them the other day and called them my tiger stripes. I know some people find them quite ugly, but I actually really like them.
Best moment this week: Feeling how much this little dude is moving. He likes to stick his bum in the air and push his head down onto my cervix at the same time. Probably not the most comfortable thing I've even felt, but it gives me a good idea of how big he is.
Miss anything?  Being able to pee? I feel like I need to go all the time, but when I do, there's nothing. That's frustrating.
Movement: Yup!
Food cravings: Nope. I've just been eating too much.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just the usual cat or dog poop.
Gender: Boy!
Labour signs: Lightening crotch! So much lightening crotch! I really don't think that classes as a labour sign though. I've had a few twinges here and there, but nothing I can say that made me think, oh wait, this could be it.
Symptoms: Tiredness. That's really the only thing I can think of right now.
Belly button in or out? Out!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy for the most part. I can be snappy though. I think I'm just getting anxious now.
Looking forward to: Him being here!! We're getting so impatient!

If you want to find out more from this week and take a little look back through my pregnancy with me, make sure to check out this week's video update!

How far along? 37 weeks! Scout is all ready now!
Total weight gain: I totally forgot to weigh myself.
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now.
Stretch marks? The couple I've had for the past week are definitely spreading. Liam keeps on saying that I should put stuff on them to prevent them, but I know that it's definitely too late for that. I'm definitely moisturising to avoid the itchiness though.
Best moment this week: Finally reaching 37 weeks. I feel like I've been counting down to this week and now I feel like I'm a little bit in limbo. Now's the time I start to get excited and anxious at the not knowing of when he's going to arrive.
Miss anything? Not having heartburn each night. It's now at the point where I literally cannot eat anything without it giving me heartburn. My only trick is to not eat for hours before bed. But then I just have to deal with a rumbly tummy half way through the night.
Movement: Yup!
Food cravings: I've not really had any this week, apart from the one night I was craving sour lemonade because I had had some earlier on in the day. I couldn't go and get any though becasue it was bank holiday and every where was shut at eleven thirty at night.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Surprisingly, not really.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: I've had some tightenings this week. Nothing painful though. Also, I've had a whole ton of pressure down below along with lightning crotch. That sure is a fun thing to feel in the middle of a supermarket when you least expect it.
Symptoms: Achy ribs, heartburn, and everything else I could possibly feel?
Belly button in or out? Out!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time:  Moody first thing in the mornings, always. Apart from that, I've had one emotional day and been happy for the most part.
Looking forward to: Our next appointment with the midwife on Monday. We have our fingers crossed that this little monkey has turned from back to back. I'd love to know if I'm dilated or effaced at all, but I know they don't tend to do that much here, unless they really have to check you.

How far along? 36 weeks. Only 1 week till full term!!!
Total weight gain: 24lbs. My midwife checked my weight on Monday and it seems our scales at home are actually accurate!
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now.
Stretch marks? Yup! I think they are definitely spreading now, slowly, but they are appearing. I think I've found one new one this week and the others are much bigger.
Best moment this week: Sorting out our birth plan with my midwife. If all goes to plan, I'll have a water birth.
Miss anything? Being comfortable. It turns out that little Scout is lying back to back at the minute. Hence giving me all the insane back ache and rib pain I've been feeling. I'm working hard to turn him now. Lots of birthing ball action and getting on all fours? Ha! who am I kidding. If I got on the floor, I'd never get up. I'm definitely trying to sit upright and forward a whole ton more though.
Movement: Yup!
Food cravings: None really..
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just the usual cat or dog poop.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: I had a lot of cramps and back pain on Sunday night and Monday morning, but it just turns out that it's due to him dropping in the position he's in and my body not being very happy with it.
Symptoms: Tiredness, aches and pains and intense heartburn!
Belly button in or out? Out!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy? Kind of. As long as I'm not aching.
Looking forward to: Being full term as of Sunday! Little boy, feel free to come whenever you like!
I'm also looking forward to our next midwife appointment. If we make it that far.

How far along? 34 weeks.
Total weight gain: 21lbs. This seems to be my new plateau. It's definitely not effecting the babies growth though. Fundal height this week measured at 36 weeks.
Maternity clothes? Nope. I'm refusing to buy anything new now. I'm totally focused on my postpartum wardrobe!
Stretch marks? YES! NEW ONES! I noticed that my tattoo felt a little funny and there it was, a little stretch mark running through one of my paw prints. It looks a little sad now. I also have another tiny one on the other side of my belly which I'm expecting to get much bigger.
Best moment this week: Hearing Scout's heartbeat at our midwife appointment. It's the best noise ever. My midwife had just felt how low his head was and it was beating really fast from the poking. It took him a little while to calm down.
Miss anything? Being comfortable. I've reached that point where I'm uncomfortable a lot of the time.
Movement: Lots. I've noticed it more after our appointment too. I think he's definitely running out of space in there.
Food cravings: I was craving meat at the beginning of the week, but I've also found that I just want anything that I see a picture of. Instagram is my enemy at the minute.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I think bad smells are always going to be an issue for me.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope. I have had a good few tightenings again this week though.
Symptoms: Pure hunger, all the time, and aching all the time.
Belly button in or out? Out a lot of the time now!
Engagement ring on or off? Off.
Happy or moody most of the time: Mood swings have made a comeback.
Looking forward to: My next midwife appointment. It'll be the appointment we get to talk about our birth choices. I'm so excited.

How far along? 33 weeks.
Total weight gain: 21lbs. I seem to have finally gotten over that 20 mark.
Maternity clothes? Nope, but my maternity leggings are finally dying. Eeek! I'm wondering if I can make them last another 7 weeks.
Stretch marks? Still my hip ones. I thought I saw a couple on my belly the other day, it turned out I'd just slept on wrinkly sheets.
Best moment this week: Having our last scan and finding out that he's weighing 4lbs 14oz already!
Miss anything? I can't really bend down and reach the floor anymore. I'm now having to do the ever classy squatting.
Movement: Lots. I think he's discovered the fact that he can move his legs and I've seen his knees a couple of times.
Food cravings: I'm back to craving meat. Gimme all the steak and burgers!!!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I think bad smells are always going to be an issue for me.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: Does starting to feel like a whale count? The water retention and puffiness has begun to appear.
Belly button in or out? Out a lot of the time now!
Engagement ring on or off? Off. It doesn't even go past my knuckle!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! My anxiety has been really good this week and not really an issue.
Looking forward to: Seeing Liam's parents next week! We've not seen them since Christmas. I was only 17? weeks pregnant then. They're also bringing a whole ton of stuff for Scout with them. I may not have had a baby shower, but by the sounds of it, I didn't really need to with the amount of shopping Liam's mum has done.

Camera Rattle || My Pal Scout || Baby Book
Blanket || Rug

There are few things we actually need in preparation for Scout's arrival now. So rather than things we need, I can now get excited about random things that we actually want.
The camera rattle is something that I saw and instantly decided I need for him. Having studied photography for a couple of years and with what Liam and I do now, it couldn't be more perfect.
The 'Scout' toy kinda goes without saying. It's a dog, it has his name and it actually sounds pretty cool.
The baby book is something that I have been thinking about for a while. My mum filled out books like this with us growing up. I don't see many people talk about them anymore and finding one which I actually like was pretty difficult. This one looks great though as it covers the first five years of your child's life. Things like this get me excited.
The blanket and the rug are both things that we really don't need, but I feel the rug would finish his nursery off nicely, and I'm just obsessed with blankets now.

I may do some more of these baby wish lists in the next few weeks. I feel a little baby crazy at the minute. I don't really want anything for me, it's just all about Scout.

Friday, 4 April 2014

Helloooo, everyone.
It seems I haven't posted a baby update on the blog for a few weeks now, and today the tables have turned. Many things today stopped me from filming my 32 weeks youtube update, so I thought I should do this for sure!
I've not taken a belly shot this week, but after editing today's daily vlog I did manage to get this screen shot. Oh my, I look mighty awful, but look at the size of my belly!!! When did it get that big?!? I officially feel like I'm going to pop...

How far along? 32 weeks. Argh!
Total weight gain: Last time I checked, I was still sitting at around 20lbs. Although, I'll update this tomorrow morning once I've weighed myself. It's probably gone up a couple as I feel huge!
Maternity clothes? Still haven't purchased anything new.
Stretch marks? Just the same ones I've had for the past few weeks. I feel like my belly button is getting pretty stretched now though, so I'm half expecting to wake up with some new ones soon.
Best moment this week: Getting through our 3 hour birth class. I was dreading it and actually really enjoyed it.
Miss anything? Being able to comfortably sit at my desk. Scout is well and truly in my ribs now and it's becoming insanely uncomfortable. Hence the lack of posts recently.
Movement: Lots. They are definitely more rolls and waves now though. Strong jabs and kicks are very few and far between during the day now. He goes mad at night when I'm laying on the side he's living on.
Food cravings: None, but I'm ashamed to say that our eating habits recently have been awful!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I think bad smells are always going to be an issue for me.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: I'm just uncomfortable. Oh, and I can't touch my toes whilst I'm sitting down anymore! Haha! Also, my fingers and toes are beginning to look more sausage-like.
Belly button in or out? I still don't know what it's doing. In if I'm standing up with the top bit poking out a little. Out if I'm sitting or lying down. Definitely out when I laugh. It's really gross.
Engagement ring on or off? Off. I really miss it.
Happy or moody most of the time: I've been quite happy this week. I've had a few moments of extreme anxiety, but I think that's down to me getting nervous about giving birth.
Looking forward to: Our scan on Monday! I'm hoping we can double check that he is for sure a little boy and maybe get to see some chubby cheeks. I guess it'll depend on how he's positioned.

whenflowersfall baby update pregnant pregnancy 28weeks

How far along? 28 weeks! Officially in 3rd trimester land now!
Total weight gain: 20lbs. I gained 2lbs last when when I forgot to update, and 3lbs this week. My weight has been something I've felt super self-conscious about this week.
Maternity clothes? Still haven't purchased anything new.
Stretch marks? The good old hip one but that's it.
Best moment this week: Getting the glucose tolerance test and whooping cough vaccine done and out of the way. I'm still waiting to hear back for results from the GTT but at least it's done.
Miss anything? I had a moment this week where I really felt like I missed just being able to have a glass of wine. I never thought in a million years that I would miss being able to have a drink, but it was a tough day and that's all I wanted.
Movement: Lots. In my video update I say that he has been getting into a routine and not being so noticeably active during the day, by oh my has he been a fidget today. I also don't wanna jinx it, but I feel like he may have moved up a teeny bit. I've been way more comfortable today.
Food cravings: Nope.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Bad smells still. Also, if I don't eat often enough I start to feel sick really quickly.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: A few braxton hicks, but nothing apart from the odd tightening.
Symptoms: Backache, the odd bit of heartburn and forgetfulness! I've lost my brain!!
Belly button in or out? I don't know what it's doing. It's in if I'm standing up, but verging on out if I'm lying down/ sitting back. I think it may pop soon.
Engagement ring on or off? Off :(
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time, but this week has been a tad emotional and Liam had to give me a pep talk half way through the week.
Looking forward to: The 32 week scan. It's still 4 weeks off, but I'm dying to see my little boy again!

Hey, you lovely lot!

So it turns out that I didn't actually do a 25 week blog post last week. Baby brain has well and truly kicked in. If you do feel as though you've missed a week and want to catch up, you can watch the 25 week video update here.

Moving on to this week, I'm really starting to feel this pregnancy.

26 weeks pregnant, pregnancy update, pregnancy, pregnant, baby, blog, whenflowersfall, youtube, video

How far along? 26 Weeks! So close to the 3rd trimester.
Total weight gain:I doubled checked my starting weight according to my records and I was actually less than I thought I was at the beginning. This means my weight gain is sitting at 15lbs. I'm ok with that.
Maternity clothes? Nope.
Stretch marks? Still no new ones that I've noticed. My old hip ones are definitely noticeable though. Liam asked if they were new ones last night.
Best moment this week: Pretty much finishing our big baby buys. We only really need to get the little easy bits now. Bath stuff, skincare etc.
Miss anything? Sleep, sleep, sleep! I've had a few uncomfortable nights this week, and I've even had a couple of nightmares. Something I've never suffered with before. Our new bed comes today though so I'm half expecting to sleep like a log tonight!
Movement: This little guy is so active! I'm noticing it so much more this week. His quiet periods are getting less frequent and even Liam can see him rolling about from the outside now.
Food cravings: Not that I can think of.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Just bad smells. I have a really weak stomach anyway. Roll on baby sick and poop!
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Backache, braxton hicks, heartburn, general tiredness.
Belly button in or out? In, but it really does feel like it may actually pop.
Engagement ring on or off? Off :(
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, generally. I've had a low mood here and there but that's just down to being grumpy about my backache.
Looking forward to: My new kingsize bed! Hello more space!
Hope you all have a fab Friday!
