New house, new dog?

I feel like it's been such a long time since I wrote a Bug post. I made the mistake of looking back at the first ones I wrote nine months ago, and now I'm seriously missing teeny tiny puppy Bug.

In two months our little rascal will turn one. Before the move he was reasonably behaved, he had very few accidents and pretty much knew his boundaries.
Unfortunately, now we're in the new house, he seems to have forgotten every thing. He really is like having a brand new dog that's never learnt. He's recently taken peeing up any item of furniture he can. The dining room, the side of the sofa, the kitchen bins. Yes that's been annoying as hell, but we seemed to be nipping it in the bud. That was until he woke us up, (or didn't as the case was) on Sunday morning. He gave no moans, no cries, no sign at all that he wanted to go out to go potty, but I had the lovely pleasure of rolling over into a huge lake of pee on our bed. Our brand new mattress.

As of then, he has lost his sleeping on the end of the bed privileges. He is being hawk-eyed around every inch of the house and we are having to make a huge effort to pretty much force him to go in the garden to do his business. Not so easy for a doggle who hates the rain.

Our other plans for him involve a trip to the vets, hopefully next month. It's time to remove those knackers. An over excited Bug every time he sees another pooch walk past the window, or meets on his walks, just isn't fun.

Apart from the above, I think he's settled pretty well. We're hoping to work on the garden soon so he'll have some more outdoor space. He can currently jump over the fence into the next garden so unfortunately for him, he can't go far into the garden at all right now.

Looking at all of the photos I have of him, I cannot believe he's grown so much. He hasn't grown to look at all like I thought he would, but I would never change him for the world. Even with all of the misbehaving. See middle photo for his guilty face.

Still a crap bag...

It dawned on me last night that I haven't done a Buggy update in such a long time.

The little blighter is now nine months old and still running circles around Liam and I.
He has grown a whole ton and is currently sporting a nekkid neck as his collar has finally become too small for him. I'm dragging Liam out tomorrow to buy him a new one.

Behaviour wise, he's much better in a sense. He is now sleeping in his own bed at night and can sit, shake, stand on his hind legs and dance when asked to. He is, on the other hand, still having some 'accidents' in the house. He hates the rain and will refuse to go in the garden if the ground is wet. In that situation, we have to stand guard at the back door and not let him in until he's done something.

Leaving the house is a lot easier now, he doesn't cry as much, and is a little calmer once we get back home. He doesn't usually have his accidents whilst we're out any more.

The only other issue we are having with him right now, is that he likes to steal things and chew them up. Shoes, toilet rolls, food, you name it, he'll take it. I'm currently living in a pair of 3 week old shoes that have already been chewed. Fingers crossed the new house has somewhere to put a shoe rack out of his reach!

He's getting on a lot better with the cats and now wants to be friends with them more often than not. Although, I'm not sure the cats are still very keen. Mischief does like to steal his bed though.

With the move coming up in the next three weeks, I can safely say that I'm not looking forward to a 4+ hour drive with a dog and two cats in the car. Especially now we have found out that Buggy gets car sick. Joy.

I will probably do another update on his 1st birthday, which is September 3rd. I'll then only do these if and when new things happen.

If you want to see more of Bug's life, then you can see him everyday in our new daily vlogs, here.

Not a baby anymore...

Bug is officially a little brat. A cute little brat, but a brat nonetheless.

It's been such a long time since I last wrote a post for Bug's corner, that looking back at the last one, I've noticed how much he has grown up!
He's now toilet trained, to an extent. He's awful at sneaking away and doing his business somewhere in the house, so now we have taken to shutting him in the room we are sitting in so he has to ask to go out.
Liam tried to teach him to bark at the back door when he needed to go outside, but it just ended with him barking at anything and everything that he wanted.

I think the next milestone will be getting Mr. Bug doctored. He seems to think that Mischief is a dog and that she is actually interested in some action. My poor kitty cat never gets a moments peace. Except, for when either of them are sleeping.

He had his first walk in the snow last week, and I think he enjoyed it. Although, I think he may have enjoyed defrosting by the fire when we got home, more.

I still love my little Mr. so very much, but I have to admit that I'm looking forward to him growing up a little bit. He's most definitely stuck in the dogs equivalent of the terrible twos.

bugs
Growing up way too fast!

He really is! I swear it was only a week ago, we bought this little dude home.

Since the last update, Bug has been on a good few walks! We haven't been taking him out every day, purely for the fact that he is still small and it's been ridiculously cold! Yesterday, we walked to the park, all the way around it and back home. It definitely tuckered him out.

Potty training seems to be going well. He finally realises that he has to go to the back door when he needs to do his business, and the only accidents he has are when we aren't watching him. Other than that, we still come downstairs to wee wees in the morning, but we're hoping that he'll get used to going before and after bedtime as he grows up.

He's still biting a whole ton. Most of the time I think he doesn't even realise how hard. We've tried several ways to stop him, but at the moment nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions?

I think the days of my tiny little Buggy are gone. He's getting bigger every day. He now even fits in the coat I got him before we even got him. His harness on the other hand, is still a little big to use. I'm sure it won't be long though.

He still very much loves his cuddles, and he still hasn't made friends with the cats. I reaaaallly hope they click soon.

If you'd like to, you can still see plenty of photos of him over on my instagram @whenflowersfall.
You can also watch him on his walk, just click the Vlogmas video below.

bugs
Two jabs done and nearly time for walkies!

This little pup has grown into a little monster.
We're currently trying so hard to train him to wee in the garden, and a very long process it seems to be. I think he understands, but sometimes he just doesn't realise he needs to go until it's done.

On Friday he had his last jab and doesn't need another one until he has his booster next year. The only thing we have to do now is get him micro-chipped, which will have to wait until the new year.

On Friday evening we'll be taking him for his first ever walk. I'm so excited.
I've decided to drive to the park, which is a walk away, walk him, then drive back. I have a funny feeling that if I walk him there, he'll want carrying around the fields.

He still hasn't made friends with the cats. They tend to avoid him and when they don't he barks at them until they run away. I'm hoping as he grows out of his 'terrible toddler' stage, he'll settle down enough for them to finally like each other.

I still love him to bits and I can't wait for him to be big enough to wear his rain coat. Yes, I got him a coat.....

Pee pee pads and chew toys

My little man is growing up fast! I swear he's so much bigger than when we got him home last week!

This week has been a challenge of patience. We've been battling with Bug to get him to use his puppy training pads regularly, and luckily we have wooden floors downstairs, so we haven't had too many disastrous accidents. Apart from the one where he woke from a deep sleep and proceeded to pee all over my sofa. For the past couple of days he's been having a good few hours, then returning to his floor peeing ways. Today though, we seem to have had a break through. His last three pee pees have been on the pad, of his own accord. Usually we have to sit with him and keep placing him back on it until he does one, so this is huge! Liam and I sadly sat, silently cheering as he did his last one. I've got everything crossed that he carries on knowing where to go!

Other than that, the little blighter has been teething this week, meaning we've had to buy a couple of new chew toys for him to play with. Although, he does seems to prefer fingers at the moment.
One thing he has learnt the meaning of, is the word 'No'. As long as we say it forcefully, he reacts and stops what he's doing straight away.

Next week he gets his first jab. I'm a little nervous because I know I'm going to feel like a horrible mummy, but I know it's all worth it and soon it means he can finally learn to do his business in the garden. It also means we can start going for walkies!

Right at this moment, he's lying in his bed, snuggled up in a blanket. Unlike Luna, when she was a kitten, he doesn't make a very good blogging buddy. He always wants to either sit on the keyboard or chew the corners of my laptop.

If you guys read my post from yesterday, then you would have seen me mention a new member that was appearing within the next month. Originally he wasn't coming home until the beginning of November, but when we went to visit last night, the breeder told us that he was already weaned, partially puppy pad trained and ready to leave mum. So, without anything prepared for him, we took our new bundle of joy home with us.

If you follow me on Twitter, you would have already seen me gushing about him.
If not, meet BUG!

Bluetooth Folder4

He is a jack russell x border terrier.
One of the biggest in his litter but was the last to be chosen. When we originally contacted the breeder she had two of the six pups left. Both boys, which was totally fine by us, and we arranged to visit yesterday to choose one and pay a deposit. A couple of days later, I received an email from her saying that one of the pups had been chosen and he was the last one left and did we want him. After seeing a photo, I fell in love!
That pretty much takes us to yesterday, when we ended up bringing him home early.

On the way home we stopped off at Morrisons to buy some puppy food and wee wee pads, then took him home to settle.
Because we have carpet upstairs, I decided to stay in the living room with him for the night. In all honesty, I thought it would be 100 times worse than it was. He cuddled with me all night, woke every two hours for a wee and a little play, then woke at 6:45 this morning. I knew it would be and it totally was like having a new born baby in the house. Lucky Liam was snoozing away in our bed whilst I was cramped on the sofa. But, he's so worth it.

I'm doing the same thing tonight and hopefully by the weekend, he will have settled enough to snuggle in his new bed (buying that tomorrow) by himself. As soon as he can use his puppy pads completely on his own he can come upstairs with us and the kitties. Who, I forgot to mention, have taken to him so well!!

Anyways, I think I may have spoken puppy for too long, so I'm going to leave it at that.
One thing I will mention though is, with the new addition will come a new addition to the blog.

Every now and then I'm going to post 'pupdates'. These will become to be what I'm calling
If you want to follow this, you can find Bug's Corner in the tabs at the top!!
I'm going to go for a cuddle now.
