You may have read a few weeks back that I had received a great pair of running shoes from Hi-Tec.
The shoes themselves gave a great first impression and I can now tell you that I am still just as impressed with them.
I've been wearing my Luca's* a whole ton in these past few weeks. They are still just as comfortable as they were when I first received them and I've not noticed much wearing of the inner sole at all.
The shoes themselves are ageing well. The only thing that has changed physically is the fact that the Hi-Tec logo on the inside has worn off. Other than that they still look great.
I've worn these in an array of different situations; riding my static bike, walking the pooch on a flat playing field and even whilst wandering down a lumpy dirt track. I've not experienced any discomfort in any of these situations and I'm happy to say that the laces stay tied! I very much dislike having to stop every ten minutes to re-tie my laces.
Because these shoes are so lightweight, there has been no extra weight to be carrying, which I think really adds to how comfortable these are to wear.
For the quality of these shoes I think the price point is fantastic. I would purchase these myself over and over if I felt the need to replace the ones I was very kindly gifted.
You can find these and all of the other fab shoes that Hi-Tec have here.
I would recommend them to anyone.

My Update.
I know this is a couple of days late, but I thought I should do a little update anyway.
This week has been horrible. My mood has been ridiculously low and I'm ashamed to say that I have eaten probably more than I should have. That being said, I didn't gain anything and still stayed the same as I have been for the past few weeks.
As of Monday (as long as the package gets here Monday morning), I will be trialling and reviewing Herbalife products. Both shakes for weight loss, and some of their newly launched skincare products. I've mentioned it before, but my sister is a Herbalife distributor/mentor and she's had incredible results from using the shakes herself. I know the shakes may not be everyone's idea of healthy weight loss, but I am only doing it for as long as one tub will last. (Should be three weeks.) I've tried other shakes before and I'm curious to see the difference in results. Even though I am doing this for my sister, I will be as honest and truthful about the results I achieve. I'm really curious to see if I am hungry at all whilst doing it.
After that I'll re-evaluate and will start planning all meals again. (We are still planning evening meals whilst I'm doing this as it's a two shakes a day trial.)
Hopefully you guys will find it informative.
Other than that, I don't have too much to say this week. Aunt Flo is due to rear her ugly head sometime this week, so that could be why I've been feeling very peckish recently.
I hope you are all doing good with your journeys.
Stay strong. It'll be worth it in the end.

#FridayFitness - Inches not Pounds

Hi flowers!

You didn't see me this time last week, and I'm sorry for that. After finding yet again, that I hadn't shifted anything, I was having an incredibly low body day.
I would be the same today if it wasn't for something my mum said to me.
At the beginning of this series, you may remember that I not only told you my start weight, but also my measurements. Again, this week I have stayed the same. 229lbs seems to be a plateau for me; I've lost 5 lbs and now I'm struggling to get over this hurdle.
I did decided to whip out my tape measure again this week though. Mum had told me not to stress too much about the number on the scales, something I had been doing, and she also told me to keep track of my measurements. To my surprise, I have lost what I would say is a pretty surprising amount. Underneath is the measurements I started off with, and this weeks measurements in purple.

Weight - 234 lbs 229lbs -5lbs
Upper arms
(r) -  42cm  39cm  -3cm
(l)- 39cm 37cm  -2cm
Thighs
(r) -  71cm  70cm  -1cm
(l)- 73cm 74cm  +1cm
Bust - 106cm 101cm  -5cm
Waist -90cm 85cm  -5cm
Hips - 129cm 125cm  -4cm

Looking at the results, I'm not feeling as low as I would have if I hadn't of measured. I'm actually feeling pretty good about it all.
Liam and I have started making weekly meal plans, only shopping once a week for the food we need for those meals. So far, it seems to be working and we've nearly gone an entire week without ordering a take-away. Which I'm ashamed to say, will probably be the first time in roughly 8 or 9 months. Funnily enough, we think it might not only help our waistlines, but also our bank accounts too. Bonus!
Cycling wise, I'm struggling. My problem knee joints are playing up something rotten, and I'm only managing to do 15-20k twice a week at the moment.
I'm hoping as the weight starts to fall off again, my knees will feel better and I can up my game again.

Keep your eyes peeled for a follow up review on the running shoes I received next week.
I've been living in them.

Hi flowers!
I hope you have all had a great week.
I'm starting this weeks post off with a little 'first impressions' review for you.
I was very lucky to receive a pair of amazing running shoes from Hi-Tec and I wanted to share them with you before I got them all worn in.
In a few weeks time, I'll come back and give you a full review of how they wear and such.

The shoes I received are the Luna running shoe in black and pink.
The colours are amazing, and not too in your face. I feel if you're a night runner, then you need not worry about wearing these black trainers, as the bright pink on these will make sure that you are seen easily.
The shoes themselves are super lightweight at only 210g, and they are incredibly flexible. The reduced seam upper makes the shoe very streamline and insanely comfortable.
Inside, the shoes boast EVA sockliner for cushioning, giving that little extra bonus for comfort.

So far, I'm in love with these shoes. I have reasonably wide feet, and sometimes trainers like this can feel a little squishy on my poor little toes; but these beauties just nicely hug the foot making you feel secure and supported.
On first impression, I would recommend these to anyone. Hopefully I can still say the same in a couple of weeks time. So keep your eyes peeled for that update.
(As a teeny added note, I really liked the little thank you in the lid of the box from the chairman of the company.)
You can find them and the rest of the fabulous range of shoes, here.

This weeks update.

Everything has seem to have gone to pot this week.
If you're a guy reading this, you may want to skip a couple of lines, but ladies, you may feel my pain.
After a month missing a period and thinking I may have been pregnant a few months ago, my body has felt the need to spring two incredibly harsh 'lady times' on me in the past six weeks. One of them being this past week. I've been experiencing pains that I haven't felt since I was a teenager and it's totally thrown me off my game.
(BOY SAFE AS OF NOW)
I've also made a ton of bad choices this week. My non meat eating ways got forgotten and I'm not proud to say that. But, I am back on it as of today as I went to bed last night feeling incredibly guilty.
My other bad health choice has been that I picked up a cig or two at the beginning of the week due to stress, and of course now I am struggling to forget about them. So, once again I am battling that little addiction I've got going on. After two months smoke free, I'm pretty disappointed in myself.
Exercise wise, I have tested out the trainers above and managed to do a 20k bike ride on Wednesday, but then proceeded to eat a huge meal with family that night, and my motivation was lost as of then.
I've been on a pretty big downer this week, but I'm not letting myself worry about it too much now. What's done is done. But, I can make sure that this week I make a real effort.
Tomorrow will be day one of an exercise every day week. I felt amazing after that one bike ride, and I'm interested to see how I feel and what results I have at the end of the week, if I make it a regular thing.
Maybe exercise is what I need to keep my mood up. Endorphins and all that.
Unfortunately day one would have been today, but I'm writing this tucked up in my bed sick.

I hope you have had a better week than me.

Hi flowers!

So I'm two weeks into the vegetarian chapter of my life. I'm happy to say that I think I've done pretty well considering I just decided one day to give up meat. The only thing that I did allow myself to have, which I said I would anyway, was a small portion of sushi from Asda.

This week though, has been a tough one. I've found myself craving meat like a mad woman and I even fell asleep thinking of steak on Wednesday night. Yup, sounds crazy, but it's true. Because of this I have decided to allow myself fish/seafood for a while, which will hopefully mean that I won't cave and stuff my face with beef one day.
I'm not sure if it will become a forever thing, but for now I think it's best for me.
I cannot tell you how much willpower I had to use not to make a sausage sarnie. Liam's been away this week and I, unfortunately had no petrol in the car to go to the shop to buy some veggie sausies.

Other than that, I need to cut down on the things that I've started to replace meat with. I've found myself reaching for cheese far to often and I imagine it's one of the reasons that I haven't lost much weight in the past two weeks.
I've only lost a pound since my last weigh in with you guys and I really feel the need to step up my game, so I've made this to spur me on...

These two jars are now sitting on my shelf until behind my desk. You may be able to see them every now and then in my videos.
The 'lbs to go' jar originally had 50 glass stones in it, a stone for each pound I would like to lose. As you can see, it's now missing a few and they are happily sitting in the 'lbs lost' jar.

I'm hoping that now I have something visual to keep me going, I may be able to keep up my motivation.
There's no feeling like moving a glass bead from one jar to the other.
Today I'll be moving one more over and in my eyes, it's better than nothing.

Start weight...
234lbs
This week...
229lbs
-5lbs

ps - I'm looking for some good quality, affordable sportswear. If you have any recommendations please leave them in the comments. If I do get my hands on some, I'll do some reviews for you guys. :)
